Step off. I'm doing the hump.
Adding pictures to blog posts is so much fun. It should not bring me this much joy.
So. My DVR stopped working. By 'stop working' I mean it hasn't recorded a fucking thing in the past month so I've missed all my shows. And I'm really not happy about missing Entourage. I have a secret passion for holmes with the bushy eyebrows. Probably because I want to take hedge clippers to them...so my techno geek friend said, "have you unplugged it?" Like any bad techno user who avoids the simplest solution I hadn't. And it fixed everything. Nerds piss me off.
Did I mention it also deleted everything I had ever recorded and saved? That's what really pissed me off. When I want to hear "AM I A BET? AM I A FUCKING BET!??" I want to be able to hear it and now I have to go and record all those movies again.
The first thing it recorded was VH1's Greatest Hip Hop Songs. So since I'm off work today I spent the morning watching it. There were so many great songs and iTunes loves me today. Here are some highlights and why I love the songs:
99. Lil John and those others "Get Low" - I remember cruising down Greenville Ave at two in the morning and my friend singing along with the non radio-edit version. It was so DIRTY! I loved it instantly. Who can get away with sayin "Now can I play with yo panty line?" Yes, please by all means point out that my panty lines are visible. And I'll admit I thought it should have ranked higher on the list.
98. Warren G ft. Nate Dogg "Regulate" - oh my god. "regulators, mount up!" I grew up in a small town with nothing to do except buy taco bell and cruise out to the boat docks to drink beer and flirt. My friend had this car that had a decent system in it and we'd roll the windows down and blast that song on 423. WE were so gangsta cool.
83 2 Live Crew - "Me So Horny" - Seriously this was like 7th grade and I had no idea what it meant only that my mom beat the shit out of me when I busted it out at the dinner table one night. Spare not the rod and all that...it wasn't a real beating but I sure remember it that way.
66 House Of Pain - "Jump Around" - dancing to this at Arcadia when I was 18. It was like my first - and last - mosh pit.
60 L.L. Cool J - "I Need Love" - I'm throwing this in because it reminded me of "Around the way girl"...I wanted to be that girl in the video so bad...the one with the overalls and the blow pop. The slut.
58 Ludacris ft. Shawna- "What's Your Fantasy" - I don't know if I've mentioned it but I was pretty sheltered growing up. Both parents were HUGE bible thumpers. I was an adult when this song came out and it was one of those songs I downloaded when Napster was not yet illegal. I wanted nothing more than to be got on the 50 yard line while the Dirty Birds kicked the tree - because it just seemed so wrong. Turns out they might have been kicking for three but I'm really bad with lyrics...one day I'll write the Pour Some Sugar On Me lyrics I still to this day sing wrong.
47 Young MC - "Bust A Move" - sadly I still know all the words to this song.
45 Geto Boys - "Mind Playing Tricks On Me" - "At night I cant sleep, I toss and turn
Candle sticks in the dark, visions of bodies being burned." Houston - REPRESENT. Plus they had a midget with one eye or something. That made it great.
39 Tone-Loc - "Wild Thing" - My friend Kim gave this cd to me for my 12th birthday along with Paula Abdul. My mom confiscated it. The bitch.
38 Coolio - "Gangsta's Paradise" - who didn't know this song? And when he got all crazy on Weird Al? Did anyone else think he had giant lips?
36 Nelly - "Hot In Herre" - I love to dance to this song. "I think my butt gettin' big" I corrupted my nieces on this song.
34 Cypress Hill - "Insane In The Brain" - my big rebellion in high school was hanging out with 'gangstas'. Okay, so it was a small town and they had no idea but all the girls thought they were way cool. This song reminds me of Cody going to jail and his Mom giving me $5 to put on his books when BFF and I went to visit him. It actually cost more than $5 to drive to the jail. Note: I no longer think boys who go to jail are hot.
29 Digital Underground - "The Humpty Dance" - This song is the bomb. Still to this day. "I once got busy in a burger king bathroom" and "hey yo fat girl, c'mere--are ya ticklish?" hahahahahahahahahaha
28 Ice Cube - "It Was A Good Day" - Great song, however "Givin' Up the Nappy Dug Out" was a classic in high school. Another rebellious act against my parents. "Your daughter was a nice girl, now she is a slut" and "She keeps nuts in her mouth like the bitch was a squirrel". I should clarify the act of rebellion was listening to the cd...not actually keeping nuts in my mouth. Gross.
23 Outkast - "B.O.B." - the lyrics are so fast I still can't keep up
22 Naughty By Nature - "OPP" - I was blessed with the name Opal. When my hair stylist calls or sees me he says, "What's up, OPP?" I hate this song.
20 Kanye West ft/ Jamie Foxx - "Gold Digger" - We're all gold diggers at heart and shame on Kanye for pointing it out.
18 50 Cent - "In Da Club" - The first time I heard this song I thought it was an old rap song. Some folks might have found that hilarious when I asked about it.
17 Sir Mix-A-Lot - "Baby Got Back" - I remember only white girls and black boys liked this song. Wonder why?
08 Snoop Doggy Dogg - "Gin and Juice" - the gin and juice craze began my senior year, I think. Well, maybe it was Mad Dog 20/20 but whatever...we were just poor high school kids.
04 Run-DMC ft/ Aerosmith - "Walk This Way" - I actually thought this was the original version of the song.
03 Dr. Dre - "Nuthin But A 'G' Thang" - Again, small town Gangsta de-lite.
02 Sugarhill Gang - "Rapper's Delight" - I learned this song from watching The Wedding Singer.
01 Public Enemy - "Fight The Power" - Great song, great message, but "911 is a joke" was da bomb!!!
I'm now distracted by dance routines on you tube for 'Bombs Over Baghdad'. And trying to keep up with the lyrics...I still get only about every 5th word.
What is wrong with me?
